Title: New FBMX version
Post by: izubiaurre on February 02, 2009, 11:02:09 AM
There's a new version of FBMX ready to download at the project page http://sourceforge.net/projects/fbtwo/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fbtwo/).

Downloaded 0.57, unpacked, started FBMX.exe:
shows splashscreen, modifies some stuff in the registry and then it... well doesn't do anything; it's gone. No crash, no freeze, just gone.

My OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600

Try the safe mode, if you can. I think I put a batch file that does this.

The batchfiles I see are inside Related\ and are:
reg.bat
regAll.bat
unReg.bat
unRegAll.bat

Do you mean one of these or am I missing something?

Ummm. Maybe I create this file later than version 0.57.

It has a simple fix. Create a new file in the same folder of the executable. Name it "FBMX safe mode.bat". Edit and write the next:

ren FBMX.exe.manifest FBMX.exe.manifest_
FBMX.exe
ren FBMX.exe.manifest_ FBMX.exe.manifest

Try it and tell me if it works for you.

Thanks for your help

It doesn't work. There is no file called FBMX.exe.manifest. Should I first get 0.56 and write 0.57 over it?

It works now. Apparently it doesn't like COMODO.  :) Will check it out further later on.

What's COMODO?

¿cómodo? es la única referencia que encuentro factible.

I suppose that is talking about the KOMODO IDE:

No, I am talking about COMODO: http://www.comodo.com/
It contains something called Defense+, which catches various process and application related stuff, like one app executing another, processes using each other's memory, registry keys being changed, and much more. Amongst this, is what FBMX.exe wanted. I did allow everything (about 12 popups), but it didn't work. But when I told COMODO that FBMX.exe is a safe application, it did work. So I think I was 'too slow' with allowing the popups.

I had a brief look at the application and the options and it looks good. It crashed when I tried to open a certain file, though. Will look at it again tomorrow. :)
