Slainte and Cebrian have given their permission and finally BennuGD changes its license to Zlib.
This is very important because it allows (amongst other things) you to:
- Publish iOS games in Apple's AppStore.
- Publish games for Android in the Android Market (once the port is complete, of course). You could already do that, I'm just pointing it out to make it clear.
- Create and publish your games for basically any console and sitribute them through the official channels (You'll need a port for the console using its official SDK, of course :)).

Please, spread the word as much as possible.
[Edit] Splinter should be the one announcing this but he's offline now and I just couldn't resist...
I thought you weren't ditributing Arora Rift on FunGP for that reason...
??? I have a few questions.
Does the license change affect the license of existing programs, i.e. do I have to update the license text of my projects? (since they are gpl 2 licensed).
And does bennu remain opensource/free software?
Was the LPGL considered as well? And did this have any disadvantages regarding the Apple app store and the android market place?
I can Imagine it might have been problematic with consoles.

The license change doesn't affect your programs. You can still create games that will be licensed as anything you like.
And yes, BennuGD will remain open source.
The change has only been done to be able to reach many other platforms were one couldn't publish right now.

The LGPL had the same problems as the GPL. You can read more on the issue on the Free Software Foundation's blog:

That nasty Apple. They basically restrict what users can do with the product. I can understand this from consoles since Nintendo and such use NDA's because you have to be a licensed developer. But Apple kind of sits in between, they want a lot of developers, but also want to strictly control the product. This must be very constraining and not very developer friendly. Google seems to be a bit more liberal. Apple is just strange. I've got an Ipod shuffle, but Apple wants users to use that bloated and awkward Itunes app, but luckely I can use Winamp to put stuff on my Ipod.

No because of the DRM issues.
DRM is not a problem, once the license is changed.

Hopefully GPH feels the same way, as it is their policy that all commercial games sold at fungp most use their own DRM system.
I say you again, if we use their DRM system in a module for Bennu, the Bennu games can be shell on their FunGP market.
Right now, i'm working on the DRM module for Bennu using their code...

quick and dirty porting! ;)
Sad to hear you had to change license because of Apple. :( Now I dislike Apple even more, if that is possible...
Still, as long as BennuGD remains free and open that is enough for me. I would have prefered GPL though, but I can understand your decision.
This is pending job for me.
I'm not a very big fan of apple anymore. I used to like them when thy where the underdog, but now the easily surpass Microsoft in their "evilness". Microsoft is starting to become nicer and less evil! Don't get me wrong apple has a keen eye for design and the whole user experience thing, but is ripping people off with older less powerfull hardware for twice the price! Ram upgrades are expensive, and you cannot fix mac's your self. With pc's I can just go to any local computer store and have a computer custom built, and can more easily upgrade something. With an Imac though, if the mainboard or the screen is broken, you have to replace the entire machine when that specific model isn't produced anymore. Not to mention that apple products may only be fixed by them. They are a lot like BMW's or other premium cars. Looks nice, is over engineered, parts cost 10x as much, and have all sorts of quirks.
