Working with BennuGD and 8bits sprites/images/fpg
« en: Marzo 25, 2018, 05:54:22 pm »
Hi there!

I need your help. I'm looking information in the net but I'm not found anything about it. My doubt is the next:

How is the correct way to work with 8Bits color depth in BennuGD with images and fpg files? I explain it:

Images design

I'm not have real problems to design images. I use Photoshop. I create indexed images with 8bits color depth and his color palette has the black color as the first for transparency.

Color palette
Then, is use FPGEdit to create the fpg files. When I create a new fpg file, this ask me about the color depth. I don't have problems if I set it on 16bits color depth. But, If I want to use 8bits color depth, fpgedit request me a associated palette color file in .pal, .bmp, .pcx extension. I don't know what is the correct way to di this palette files. I can get a .pal file in photoshop but the fpgedit says to me that this file "doesn't has 256 colors". If I did it with Corel Paint Shop Pro, fpgedit don't show me any message, all it's fine aparently but, when I going to put in the game code the color depth in 8Bits, all images/sprites shows wrong (with 4 colors more or less)

So, please, someone can explain to me what is the correct way to do sprites/images in 8 bits color depth with his correctly palette file for BennuGd?

Many many thanks
